A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of your bladder, and the urethra — which is the lower urinary tract.
Symptoms of UTIs
The symptoms of a UTI can include:
- A burning sensation while urinating
- A frequent or intense urge to urinate, even though little comes out when you do
- Cloudy, dark, bloody, or strange-smelling urine
- Fever or chills (a sign that the infection may have reached your kidneys, also known as pyelonephritis)
- Pain or pressure in your lower back or lower abdomen
